Due to popular demand, I called upon Hercules to throw down his Advanced Guide to Hot Yoga and fire up the silver lady, so that we could take a gander at the Liberty's Christmas windows. With great gusto and in true Herculean style we thundered through central London at break neck speed in our gleaming midnight carriage for some late night festive shopping.
Welcome aboard the Liberty Christmas Express....

One block down past Hamley's windows, lots of animated....things!
A quick trot down Carnaby Street
Full circle back onto Regent Street in search of late night shoes....
......more Christmas shopping coming soon.
Good Gosh! That looks like a movie set in Hollywood..the whole town that is!
ReplyDeleteYou would crack up at our window dressing around here...most have cracks covered with gray tape..however...gray is IN this year!
I love Liberty, thank you for taking me there with these beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteThe windows are fabulous and the street decorations are pretty fantastic as well! More photos please. I love this time of year!!

Dear Paul - that last photo, brilliant, could not be anywhere else but London - Black cabs, London buses, and I love the Partridge in a Pear Tree theme to the lights. I am partial to partridges, you may have noticed that I have one on my blog - it has a special meaning for me.
ReplyDeleteGlad I was a good girl this year, and the elves let me see the Liberty shop - thank you.
Paul, THANK YOU so much for sharing these photos - they're awesome! I love all the glamorous style there in London! And oh my, the unmistakable R.S. Lips and Tongue!

Carnaby Street and Regent Street are the coolest streets ever! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in London. Stunning pictures Paul. :)

ReplyDeleteGlamour and style... the kind of style you don't get anywhere else (having said this, images of the Rockefeller Centre in Manhattan do pop up here and there, in my head!)
I love the glitz and glamour of a big city... I love the noise, the traffic, bumping into people whilst carrying bags full of gifts. I love it all!
Oh, yes! "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go, so... I'm going to sing a song!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
Take a look in the five and ten glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Toys in ev'ry store
But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be
On your own front door.
A pair of hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots
Is the wish of Barney and Ben;
Dolls that will talk and will go for a walk
Is the hope of Janice and Jen;
And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
There's a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well,
The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
Soon the bells will start,
And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart.
CIAO!

Paul,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adored this! London looks magical. Wish I could transport myself there. Liberty is my favorite store ever and my kids think Hamley's is heaven on earth. Thanks for letting me see London all dressed up! Great photos as always.
Happy weekend!

Cool! Love this, Mr. Paul!! Very creative and clever. BTW, don't forget my present. Preferably something from a British designer: Jasper Conran, Viv Westwood, Paul Smith.....you get it ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Paul. I remember in Santa Cruz where I grew up there was a department store called Leask's that had animated Christmas scenes in all their windows. Brown paper would cover the windows for weeks ahead of time and everyone could hardly wait for the unveiling. Of course, Santa Cruz was not London back in the 40's (nor is it now)but it was exciting nevertheless. I bet you had a great time shopping.San Francisco is the biggest city I've ever seen at Christmas and it is beautiful..Happy Weekend..Judy
ReplyDeleteDear Paul,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous windows and some that are fun too!I would love to come along on the Liberty Christmas Express!

ReplyDeleteSo fun and festive Paul... I best get myself in there for a look... Happy weekend... xv
ReplyDeleteDear Paul,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed accompanying you on your journey around the most important parts of London (the shops) and I must say that my eye is quite taken with some of the luggage in photograph no. 3. Mind you, seeing those 'things' in the shop window of Hamleys gave me a fright. I had hoped they had gone out of fashion as my young niece 'adores' them and and is constantly asking for the latest ones.
3rd Floor at Liberty's is where you would find AGA and I browsing this and that...

It makes me long to catch that late night Air Canada flight from Halifax, across the pond to Heathrow, and shop shop shop!
