I am the Egg Man!

I am very particular when it comes to Easter eggs and with the bank holiday weekend nearly upon us I thought it high time I went shopping for some yummy ellipsoid gifts. I popped on my imaginary Easter bonnet, grabbed my basket and with a spring in my step I gambled off to one of my favourite chocolatiers in London.

Tucked away in Belgravia is the four time winner of Best British Chocolatier award, William Curley. William and Suzue Curley's credentials speak for themselves. William perfected his refined patissier craft working in Michelin starred establishments with Pierre Koffman, Marco Pierre White, Raymond Blanc and Anton Edelman and Suzue is renown for having hosted the legendary afternoon teas in London's Savoy hotel.

Quite often we take a sharp detour to visit the boutique on Ebury Street to grab an indulgent hot chocolate in the Winter, or in the summer for one of their divine ice creams or on the weekend to enjoy the absolutely incredible dessert bar or about three o'clock on a Wednesday to grab some biscuits for tea. You get the idea!

Upon returning laden with my loot, I went to eggstra-ordinary lengths to float this badboy on water for the photograph above. Naturally I also had to carry out the demanding job of quality control, so I took a hammer to it and found no shortage of willing volunteers to join me in my delicious assessment.

What will your indulgence be this Easter weekend?

Pierre Hermé - Macaron Day

Some of you may recall that last Spring I revealed a particular favourite place in central London that I like to sneak off to now and then to fulfill my secret penchant for macarons.

Well, this Wednesday just so happens to be Macaron Day. So I popped along to Pierre Hermé's swanky boutique in Knightsbridge for a chat with the lovely Yuki, who presides over the gourmandise delights in store and to treat myself to a little box of bite sized heaven. Yuki gave me a preview of the sumptuous macarons created for Wednesdays big charity event.

Visitors to Pierre Hermé will have the opportunity to try one of the most delectable delicacies created especially for Macaron day in exchange for a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust which helps fund much needed research, clinical care and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families.

Some of the special edition macarons on offer will be...

Vanilla, Violet & Blackberries
White Truffle & Roasted Piedmont Hazelnuts
Apricot & Crunchy Pistachio
Olive Oil & Vanilla
Matcha Green Tea & Black Sesame Crisp
Jasmine, Mango & Candied Grapefruit
Chocolate & Honey

Bon appétit!

Cocktails on the Green!

We never really need much of an excuse to declare it cocktail hour but with St Patrick's Day nearly upon us, we decided to get the ball rolling, head to an elegant establishment and enjoy early lunchtime cocktail treats in various shades of green to mark the occasion!

Located in the heart of Knightsbridge in central London, The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park ticked all the right boxes for our little jaunt. The 188 room, five-star hotel overlooks the green expanse of Hyde Park with Harvey Nichols and Harrods on its doorstep. The ideal destination for some pre or post shopping cocktails and you know how I adore a lovingly made cocktail every so often!

I had it on good authority that the hotel's signature cocktail just happened to be the perfect colour befitting the occasion, so how could I resist? As we reclined in the relaxed surroundings of the hotel's fabulous Mandarin Bar perusing their leather bound cocktail ledger, I opted for the original Double 12 mixed with fresh basil giving it a verdant glow.

With cocktails this delicious I'm already looking forward to returning to the Mandarin Bar very soon. Slainte!
