Harrods Goes Gatsby

Whilst cruising through town yesterday I was thrilled to see that one of my favourite corner shops is celebrating the much anticipated upcoming release of Baz Luhrmann's, The Great Gatsby.

Harrods have gone all out with their opulent windows which always get me in a spin. Well, they've certainly popped the cork this time, not only do the windows look fabulous but they are transforming the Harrods wine department in to a jazzy 1920's style speakeasy where you can indulge in an old fashioned martini or a Hendricks cocktail served in china tea cups until 20th May !

Well, what are you waiting for Flossie? Crop your bob, rouge those knees, kick up your heels and head down to Harrods!

  1. Oooooh, so excited, I can't wait to see the movie, I think we are going next week. I'm delighted to see amongst your photos they have produced a very Art Deco version of my fave perfume Alien. I will have to have one of those. Thanks for the tour!

  2. Looks fabulous darling!!!! My bob's already cropped, and I just dug out my vintage dancing shoes. Hope to see you there - perhaps on my way back from Russia in a few weeks, if I can detour that flying machine to Knightsbridge!

I'm hoping to get to the movie soon - meanwhile loving your pics of the window displays.
    Happy weekend dear Paul.

  3. Looking forward to seeing The Gatsby . . . Harrods certainly brought it to life. I felt I had arrived when many years ago . . . I was in London and shopped at Harrods . . . What fun a "drive through town" to see the glitz and glam of this era in view . . .

Harrods and yourself have done the film proud - all that electric blue, amber and purple - stunning - well done Paul - like your style.

  8. Bravo to your photography talents Paul. Harrods always make the most extravagant and dramatic windows. But sorry, Toronto's Holt Renfrew beat London this time by having the original movie costumes designed by Prada displayed in its store windows. Pamela from Hyde Park, London (not from Speaker's Corner) :))

  9. I'm so glad you saw these windows and shared them with us. I used to adore Harrods (and Selfridges) windoes when I lived in London. I keep meaning to op up to town and take a look ..... and this is worth looking at. I think the elegance of The Jazz Age suits the old department stores so well. Minerva x

  10. Paul, what a treat! I know how stunningly beautiful this must be in reality, wish I could see it. Now, about the movie? Have you seen it yet?
It's getting terrible reviews in the USA, but we will all flock to it anyway.

  13. Oh wow Paul, the shop windows look really impressive! I am looking forward to see Baz's adaptation of the Great Gatsby. I am not sure about Leonardo di Caprio as Jay Gatsby though, being a great fan of Robert Redford myself :-)

    Enjoy the film next week!

Oh by the way, I have the hair, the shoes and the dress.....it's a pity Harrods wine bar is all the way to London ;-)
